Zaptec Pro 3-phase charging on 230V IT network and TT network
Zaptec charging on IT/TT 3-phase
In Belgium we have three types of power grid, IT grid and TT grid with 230 volts, and TN grid with 400 volts.
IT networks and TT networks are not widespread in the rest of the world, and the car manufacturers have therefore given it a lower priority.
Now we have the pleasure of introducing a firmware and software update that updates your charging system to be able to charge with three phases on IT networks and TT networks with 230 volts, with correct current measurement on all phases.
We are happy to be able to offer several of our large customers even faster charging of their electric cars. If you buy Zaptec, this should be synonymous with our vision of the smartest, fastest and safest charging on the market, says Knut Braut - Chief Technology Officer at Zaptec.
Activate 3-phase IT/TT
To activate three-phase charging, contact the administrator of your charging facility.
Administrator activates three-phase charging as follows:
- Log in to the Zaptec Portal
- Select the charging station on which you want to activate three-phase charging
- Under Settings on the charging station:
- Change the “Max phases” setting from 1 to 3 phases
- Press Save. The next time a car is plugged in for charging, it will be assigned three phases.
*Remember that the owner is responsible for the car being connected supporting this.
This function is only available for electric vehicles that support it.
Currently, we know of the following models that support three-phase charging on IT networks and TT networks:
- Tesla
- Pole stars
If you don't have one of these models, three-phase charging can affect your charging speed in an unpredictable way, so we recommend that you wait to enable the feature.
